The Links to Learning program has been operated by Open Family in Cabramatta since 2001 and is funded by the NSW Department of Education and Training. The program provides literacy, numeracy and employment training for early and/or at-risk young school leavers – assisting them to remain in or re-engage with education, or transition into employment.
Each student attends the Links to Learning classes plus our worker provides ongoing outreach episodes of support to the students in this program. The education component is provided by Sydney Distance High School Education and Open Training and Education Network (NSW TAFE).
The Links to Learning Project provides continual success with approximately 75% of students having gone on to undertake further study or entering vocational training/employment. The success of the program relies on the skills of our team in retaining students' interest with non-traditional education subjects such as photography, film, music, art and multimedia.
