Developing life skills for young people gives them the tools to make the right decisions regarding education, employment, health and their general welfare in their adult lives. At Open Family Australia, we believe that life skills can help us turn the tide against the issues that face most young people at risk in the community.
In 2008, Open Family Australia launched its Youth Leadership Program in Melbourne, a comprehensive year-long program that gave 20 young people the skills to become leaders within their local communities with the hope that they will be come leaders within the broader community in the future.
In 2009, this program will be launched into the Sydney market.

The City of Frankston has a new community outreach program to combat the rise in youth homelessness, crime and alcohol and drug related abuse for troubled youth in the region. A development committee made up of concerned local business owners approached Open Family Australia in 2008 to establish the program to assist at-risk and homeless youth aged 12-25 in Frankston.
