What is Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR)?
Corporate Social Responsibility is the continuing commitment by business and company individuals to behave ethically and contribute to economic development while improving the quality of life of the workforce, their families, and the local community and society at large. More than goodwill and corporate community involvement, CSR is a genuine attempt from both the corporate sector and private individuals to build relationships with the rest of society.
What is our Corporate Social Response?
We are challenging organisations like you to join us in responding to the needs of this often-forgotten future generation of Australians. With 39,000 young Australians not having a permanent place to sleep tonight this problem cannot be tackled in isolation or by just one organisation or agency. We urge businesses to band together and commit to a Corporate Social Response to help these young Australians break their lifecycle and build a better life.
Open Family Australia's CSR Program
Open Family Australia has introduced a CSR program which enables companies to form a partnership with the organisation in a structured manner. Companies can choose from a variety of options to become involved with Open Family Australia and receive tailored benefits in recognition of their commitment. Mum and I were fighting all the time and it wasn’t a happy place for me anymore. I had told Mum that one of her relatives had sexually abused me. I don’t know why but she didn’t believe me. I think that is what hurt me the most – I’m her daughter and she is supposed to protect me but when I finally got up the courage to tell her what had been going on, she turned her back on me.

Open Family Australia works in Victoria and NSW, providing Outreach support to young people at risk in these communities.
Assertive Outreach is a model that offers youth focused services to street frequenting young people in the environments where they congregate. This model of providing comprehensive ongoing support in all aspects of a young person’s life, rather than just concentrating on one issue is successful, as it provides the young person with support from a worker who is available for all their needs and who also works to integrate them into mainstream society.
